On the Makgadikgadi saltpans, the sun can be intense, but it also brings warmth and light after a chilly morning. On this morning, the family was emerging from their burrow, stretching and warming up in the early light.
This youngster climbed onto a small ridge of sand and paused, turning its face towards the sun and then, seemingly, towards me. For a few moments it held that bright, open gaze, its ears forward and whiskers twitching, as if offering a cheerful “hello sunshine.” That mix of innocence and pure happiness is what I wanted to keep in this Hello Sunshine print.
