I followed at a respectful distance and kept low so that I could keep the horizon line simple. After a few minutes the painted wolf passed through a band of especially warm light. The colours of its coat suddenly glowed against the softer background. At that moment I pressed the shutter, and this african wild dog photograph became a painted dog portrait that shows both beauty and purpose.
