Story Behind The Photograph – Unexpected Encounter On The Road

It was almost dark and I was driving home, thinking the day was over. Then, suddenly, the wild dogs appeared, lying right on the road in front of the car. I stopped at once and switched to watching mode.

Instead of staying inside, I stepped out and sat quietly next to the vehicle. One of the pups grew curious about the glow from the headlights. Slowly it walked towards the light, stepping right into the beam and stopping there. The rest of the road and forest stayed black, but the pup’s face and ears lit up in a soft, golden tone.

I kept still, raised the camera and made a few careful frames. This photograph is the moment when the pup paused at the edge of the light, halfway between wild night and human road.

Warm Light, Deep Shadow And Curiosity
