Story Behind The Photograph – Quiet Moment In The Forest

In the forest of Mana Pools the pack had been moving through the trees, kicking up light dust as they went. For a short time the noise and energy dropped. Two dogs paused, stepped towards each other and simply rested together.

I lay low to the ground and watched as one wild dog tucked its head in, almost like a hug. There was no rush, no chase, just stillness and trust. The soft evening light filtered through the trees and caught the dust in the air, turning everything around them into a gentle haze. When their pose settled into this simple, balanced shape, I pressed the shutter.

What stands out in Wild Dogs Hugging is the calm mood. The african wild dogs do not run or play; they simply share weight and warmth. Long, thin legs and curved backs create a quiet rhythm, and the angle of their heads leads your eye into the centre of the image.
